Il flop dell’Unifil

Tensione sempre più alta a Beirut dove l’empasse istituzionale che da sei mesi paralizza il governo libanese sembra giunta a un punto di svolta con la prossima nomina del nuovo presidente che dovrà sostituire il filo-siriano Emile Lahoud. Difficile un compromesso tra la maggioranza filo occidentale di Saad Hariri e del premier Fuad Sinora e le forze filosiriane che insieme agli Hezbollah cercano da tempo di assumere il controllo del “Paese dei cedri”.

Il rischio concreto di una nuova guerra civile comporta inevitabili ripercussioni sull’azione dei caschi blu schierati nel sud e guidati dal generale italiano Claudio Graziano, come dimostra anche l’arrivo a Beirut della troika europea composta da ministri degli esteri di Italia, Francia e Spagna, non a caso i paesi maggiormente impegnati con i contingenti militari assegnati a Unifil. Dopo 14 mesi di missione il bilancio di questa operazione militare presenta un solo aspetto positivo: ha impedito lo scoppio di un nuovo conflitto tra Israele e Hezbollah.

Per il resto non c’è molta gloria in una missione nella quale 13.000 caschi blu bene armati non possono compiere neppure l’ispezione di un veicolo se non gli viene chiesto espressamente dall’esercito libanese. Un mese fa un rapporto dell’Onu confermò che Hezbollah non solo non aveva disarmato ma aveva ricostituito completamente i suoi arsenali con razzi a lungo raggio Zezal e Fajr, con una portata di 250 chilometri, missili anticarro, antiaerei e antinave, inclusi i missili cinesi C-802. A togliere credibilità ai caschi blu ha contribuito anche la notizia dei tre giorni di esercitazione condotta da Hezbollah nel Libano meridionale riferita dal giornale libanese Akhbar, vicino alle posizioni degli estremisti sciiti.

Secondo il quotidiano filo-Hezbollah migliaia di miliziani del gruppo sciita hanno preso parte alle esercitazioni a sud del fiume Litani, supervisionate dal leader di Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah. L’attentato contro i caschi blu spagnoli dell’estate scorsa e alcuni altri sventati negli ultimi tre mesi confermano inoltre che Unifil non ha il controllo del piccolo territorio nel quale opera nel quale cellule terroristiche del gruppo jihadista sunnita Osbat al Ansar, legato forse ad Al Qaeda ma non certo estraneo a Damasco, che ha la sua base sede nel campo profughi palestinese di Ain Heloué.

La Maison de la Verdiטre was opened by the UGIF (General Union of Israelites in France) on May 24, 1943, to accommodate Jewish women and children and was placed under Gestapo control. On October 20, 1943, in the morning, the Gestapo invaded the Verdiטre, arrested all its occupants and sent them to Drancy. From there, they were deported to Auschwitz. They were all killed in Auschwitz, gassed and burned. Renי Tordjman, the youngest child, was one year old. The plaque bears the inscription: ”On October 20, 1943, 30 Jewish children were arrested by the Gestapo with six of their mothers and their director, Alice Salomon. All were murdered in Auschwitz.
